On Monday, April 21, the Karachi Kings overturned their past results and got back to winning ways as they defeated Peshawar Zalmi by two wickets at the National Stadium in Karachi. On the back of Khushdil Shah’s all-round performance, the David Warner-led side secured a thrilling win and claimed the second spot in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 points table.

Apart from Khushdil Shah’s brilliant performance, both with the bat as well as the ball, the 30-year-old Pakistan all-rounder caught the attention for getting involved in a heated exchange with Luke Wood, the Peshawar Zalmi bowler. The incident unfolded in the 17th over of Karachi Kings’ batting innings as they were chasing a target of 148.

Coming to bowl the 17th over, Wood bowled a no-ball which the Pakistan all-rounder smashed for a boundary. The England international looked unpleased by it and bowled a wide. As Wood looked discontent, he walked up to Khushdil in the middle of the pitch as the two exchanged some words. In the very next delivery, Wood cleaned up Khushdil Shah, but survived as it was a free hit. However, the exchange brought in some drama on the field, the umpires had to intervene to put them apart.

While the Pakistan all-rounder scored an unbeaten 23 off 17 during his stay in Kings win, he finished with three scalps in his three-over spell, while conceding 20 runs. For his all-round performance, Khushdil was even adjudged the Player of the Match. Speaking after receiving the award, Shah said, “I'm getting to bat a little higher this season. Today there was a pressure situation and I was told to go in lower down to handle the game.”

“I was feeling good, knew that they had a bowler missing and that a part-timer or all-rounder had to bowl the last over. I'm enjoying, the team involves me in everything. Babar is their main batter, always happy to get him out,” he concluded.
