Former Team India opener Wasim Jaffer has taken a sarcastic jibe at ex-England captain Michael Vaughan, who took a dig at the India former through a social media post after the fourth day’s play of the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at The Oval. Following the fourth day’s action, England required 35 runs to win the match with four wickets in hand. Their mainstay batter Jamie Smith was at the crease and he was expected to take the hosts’ home comfortably with the assistance of the tailenders. However, things turned completely on the final day, when Mohammed Siraj stepped up and took three off four wickets to help India clinch a six-run win and end the five-match series in a stalemate, 2-2.

Following India’s win, it was Jaffer’s turn to reply to Vaughan’s previous day’s post. The former opener took to X and posted his image in which he can be seen lying on chaarpai also known as baz or baaj in Marathi. “Lying on a Baz having a ball, how about you @MichaelVaughan #ENGvIND," captioned the image.

England’s quench for a Test series win vs India continues

With the stalemate result, England’s thirst for a series win against India continues. The last red-ball series the English side won against India was in 2018, when Virat Kohli and his men recorded a 1-4 defeat at the hands of the Joe Root-led team. Following that competition, four Test series have been played in which two have been won by India while other two have concluded in drawn results.

India’s next Test series will be against the West Indies at home while England will be taking on the Australia challenge from November 2025 to January 2026. The English side will be travelling Down Under for the first time to play a Test series after adopting the ‘bazball’ approach in 2022, under the leadership of Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes.
