Post-match, captain Ajinkya Rahane addressed the media about the same. When asked about the Eden Gardens pitch, which has been under scrutiny for its unpredictability this season, Rahane responded with a telling remark by saying, “There have been enough talks over the wicket here. Main kuch bolunga to bawaal ho jayega. Our curator has already gotten a lot of publicity and I think he is happy with that publicity. I’ll not say anything around the wicket here and will say it to the IPL and the concerned authorities.”
Rahane’s comment adds fuel to the ongoing debate about the Eden Gardens surface. Traditionally known for its batting-friendly nature and even bounce, the pitch this season has been notably slow and challenging, particularly for stroke-makers. KKR, who built their squad with power-hitters expecting high-scoring games at home, have found themselves constrained by the sluggish track. The conditions have arguably neutralised their advantage, levelling the playing field for visiting teams.
