Manchester United have reportedly offered a five-year contract until June 2030 for Brazilian and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha after their talks with the player’s entourage have advanced in recent days and weeks. It is understood that while Manchester United were initially looking to offer a four-year contract with an option for the fifth year to the player, they decided to go for the five-year contract instead.
As per the report published in TEAMtalk, there are some details about the salary structure needed to be agreed upon between Matheus Cunha and Manchester United. But it is expected to happen when the representatives of the Red Devils meet the entourage of the 25-year-old in a meeting, which has been planned to finalise everything in regard to the deal before the end of the ongoing season, especially when a few other clubs are also interested in signing him.
Manchester United are looking to pay the release clause worth £62.5 million of Matheus Cunha
While Manchester United are looking to pay the release clause worth £62.5 million of Matheus Cunha, they would be doing it as a deferred payment spread over at least three seasons, to fulfill the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League. It is important to note that the negotiations between Wolves and Manchester United to decide the final contract price is going smoothly.
With the impending arrival of Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, it is expected that Rasmus Hojlund might be moved on elsewhere since he will become surplus to the requirements of manager Ruben Amorim’s squad. The Danish forward hasn’t performed anywhere close to his best in the ongoing 2024-25 season, which is why he might return back to Serie A, where he first made a name for himself while playing for Atalanta.
