Former Team India player Manoj Tiwary has criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not providing a proper Test farewell to veteran opener Rohit Sharma, who announced his retirement from red-ball cricket on May 7. The 38-year-old India skipper was struggling to be among the runs and wins as batter and captain in the last few Tests. Following his underwhelming performance, there were reports that claimed he can be removed as Test skipper. However, amidst those scenes, Rohit announced Test retirement through an Instagram post.

However, Manoj Tiwary isn’t convinced with the fact that Rohit declared his retirement through social media, and isn’t going to be handed a farewell Test. “If Rohit Sharma had retired not on social media but on the field after playing, it would have been a more fitting send-off. It would've felt better for all of us too," Tiwary said on CricBuzz. Tiwary also highlighted Rohit’s success rate as captain to prove that the 38-year-old was a fine Test skipper for India. He also added, "Look at his record as a Test captain, it's very good. He's won 12 Tests, lost 9, and drawn 3. So there's no doubt about his success rate."
