Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United winger, is reportedly willing to take a wage cut to join Barcelona next season, with his asking price being set at £40 million for the upcoming summer transfer window. After joining Aston Villa on loan this past February, the 27-year-old has managed to resurrect his dwindling career, and now, he wants a new challenge, with his preference being Barcelona.
Notably, Marcus Rashford is currently dealing with a muscle injury, which has ruled him out for the rest of the ongoing 2024-25 season, effectively ending his loan stint with Aston Villa. There is an expectation in some corners about the English winger potentially returning to Manchester United, but with Ruben Amorim reportedly not interested in keeping him around, he is set to leave his boyhood club permanently this summer.
Marcus Rashford has scored four goals and provided six assits in 17 matches on loan to Aston Villa
It was recently reported that before Aston Villa secured a loan deal for Marcus Rashford earlier this year, Barcelona had the option to sign him, but they didn’t go ahead with it due to their financial constraints. But now, he is free to sign with any club in the summer - despite Aston Villa getting the option to buy him in the loan deal - if they reach an agreement for him with Manchester United.
Amid all that, Mundo Deportivo has published a report wherein Marcus Rashford has shown his willingness to take a significant cut from his estimated £325,000-a-week salary, to join Barcelona in the summer. Despite having a contract until 2028 with Manchester United, he got loaned out earlier this year to Aston Villa, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 17 matches, and with the current development, he could be on his way to Spain next season.
