Manchester United are reportedly looking to sell Marcus Rashford for £40 million to any club in the summer transfer window, not just Aston Villa, who have the option-to-buy clause in his current loan deal with them. The 27-year-old believes in the aforementioned possibility after he is set to miss out on the rest of the season for Aston Villa, due to a hamstring injury sustained in the build-up to the FA Cup semi-finals loss against Crystal Palace last month.

As per the report from BBC Sport, the option-to-buy clause in Aston Villa’s loan deal for Marcus Rashford doesn’t prevent other clubs from signing him after his contract with them expires on June 30. With that, it is highly likely that the English winger ends up signing for a new club since Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly isn’t interested in bringing him back into the fold this summer.

Marcus Rashford isn’t willing to take a cut in his salary, which is estimated to be £325,000-a-week

The sources close to the ever-evolving Marcus Rashford situation state that since he isn’t willing to take a cut in his salary, which is estimated to be £325,000-a-week, there are limited suitors in the market for him. Aston Villa could end up signing him in the summer on a permanent deal if they manage to finish in the top five in the Premier League, securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League, which will make their chances that much better.

Moreover, even if Marcus Rashford was fit enough to start for Aston Villa currently, he wouldn’t have played in the last game of the Premier League season against his parent club Manchester United at Old Trafford on May 25. The players are ineligible in the Premier League to compete against their own club if they are being transferred to another club in the competition on a loan deal.
