Martin Zubimendi, 26, the Real Sociedad midfielder, is reportedly set to undergo medical in London before completing his move to Arsenal, which has been in the works for quite some time. It is understood that the documents in regards to Martin Zubimendi becoming an Arsenal player are signed, and with that, the transfer from Real Sociedad is imminent, pending a successful medical.

As per the report published in BBC Sport, with the paperwork going through in the last few days, all the relevant parties connected to the move are relaxed in regards to when the medical will be scheduled for Martin Zubimendi at Arsenal. The London-based club have been working behind the scenes for months in regards to bringing in the Spanish footballer to the Emirates Stadium, and now, it is more than likely to happen.

Martin Zubimendi is a versatile player with ability to play as defensive and attacking midfielder

In the current contract with Real Sociedad, there is a £51 million release clause, which Arsenal have triggered, following which both the clubs have agreed the payment structures in regards to the deal. The 26-year-old played 48 matches for the Spanish club in the 2024-25 season, scoring two goals and providing two assists, but since his role is in defensive midfield, it is judged on his ability to protect his team’s defence, which he did exemplary well.

The Spaniard also has the ability to not only be a defensive player, but also go on the attack if required, which will bode well for him at Arsenal in times to come.

Apart from the all but done signing of Martin Zubimendi, Arsenal are also looking to bolster their striker ranks, with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres rumoured to be their preferred targets in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, they are currently undergoing talks with a number of young players in their current squad about giving them new contracts, including names like Gabriel, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey, and Leandro Trossard.
