As the ODI World Cup 2023 draws nearer, the official broadcaster Star Sports is starting to amp up their coverage to add to the palpable excitement among the fans. In a massive turn of events, a video has gone viral on social media, wherein the Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja was spotted with Vishal Malhotra aka the “Maukaman,” fueling speculation of “Mauka Mauka” ad making its return for the quadrennial event.
For those who don’t know, Mauka Mauka was the advertisement campaign created by Star Sports eight years ago, to promote the India versus Pakistan match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. The ad was referencing the five consecutive losses suffered by the Men in Green against the Indian cricket team in the quadrennial spectacle in the previous years.
The overwhelming response to the first video from the fans led to Star Sports making subsequent ads for all the ODI World Cup matches of India in 2015, repeating the campaign for 2019 in its entirety. Fast forward to 2023, Mufaddal Vohra, a well-known personality on Cricket Twitter, shared the video of Ravindra Jadeja and Vishal Malhotra working together in a shoot for Star Sports, the excerpts of his tweet read, “Is Mauka Mauka making a return?”

Whether Mauka Mauka makes a return for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 or not, remains to be seen. But, the positive response to the ad campaign in previous years, coupled with Indian cricketers getting spotted with the Maukaman, it seems that the new edition of Mauka Mauka hitting the screens on Star Sports is a foregone conclusion.
