The second match of the Women’s Premier League (2023) got underway on Sunday afternoon at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai wherein Smriti Mandhana’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took on Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals. Mandhana won the toss and decided to bowl first. Her decision backfired big time as Delhi Capitals piled up a massive 223/2 on the board with Meg Lanning and Shafali Varma doing the most of the scoring.

However, RCB batters started things nicely as captain Mandhana and Sophie Devine scored runs at a quick rate. Even though RCB lost Devine, Mandhana and Ellyse Perry continued the momentum. Soon, Smriti too fell as Alice Capsey got the best out of the RCB captain. However, Perry had no intentions to stop as the Australian was taking the DC bowlers to the cleaners.

She hit Radha Yadav for a hattrick of boundaries. But then came Tara Norris, the only associate cricketer in the WPL. The USA pacer wreaked havoc in the middle as she got Perry as well as Disha Kasat in her first over. The left-arm pacer then accounted for dangerous Richa Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja in her next over to push RCB on the back foot. The pacer then completed a five-wicket haul as she dismissed Heather Knight who was threatening to walk away with the game.

This brilliant spell of bowling from Norris put DC in the driver's seat and the pacer got all the love and praise from the fans on Twitter.
