Formula 1 racer Michael Schumacher’s family reportedly came up with an innovative way to stimulate his brain after his horrific accident. According to reports, Schumacher’s family began a unique therapy to bring the seven-time world champion out of serious head injuries he suffered ten years ago. The Formula 1 legend was involved in an accident while skiing in the French Alps ski resort of Meribel. After the accident, he was kept in a medically induced coma until June 2014.
The 54-year-old underwent several surgeries before leaving the hospital for further treatment at the Lausanne University Hospital. He was later shifted for treatment and rehabilitation in September 2014. As December 29, 2023, marks the tenth anniversary of the fatal accident, a recent article by German newspaper Bild claimed that in an attempt to stimulate his brain, he was placed in a M ercedes-AMG car and driven around.
It was done because the F1 icon spent over two decades in Formula One or in other classes. The accident had broken Schumacher’s skull which led to a traumatic brain injury, and since then, he has been fighting for his life. Since the accident, his family has been very particular about his privacy about his condition. He is under the tight observation of medical staff and his wife Corinna at their Lake Geneva home.
Talking about his career, the German racer won seven world titles, which include five on a trot with Ferrari. He returned to F1 racing in 2010 for three years with the Mercedes team. Later in 2012, he was replaced by Lewis Hamilton. In 2021, Hamilton matched Schumacher's record of seven world titles.
