A new game called Moba Legends was listed on Google Play last week, and what makes it interesting is that it gives a close resemblance to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). MLBB is one of the most popular online battle arena (MOBA) games which was earlier banned in India. The release of Moba Legends sparked rumours in the Indian esports community of it being a rebranded version of MLBB, which has been specially customised to cater to the Indian market.
The game was introduced on April 19 and was brought to attention by Subzidite2, a popular figure in the Indian gaming community and Liquipedia APAC’s Wiki Manager. According to Subzidite2, the game’s appearance and mechanics possess a striking similarity to the banned MLBB. It has introduced a Hindi language interface to appeal to the Indian audience directly.
Apart from that, the What’s New section for Moba Legends on Google Play also makes references to MLBB, which reinforces the connection between the games. The game is published by Vizta Games. If the rumours and guesses are correct, this wouldn’t be the first time a game would re-enter the Indian market under a different name and label.
