Fast bowler Mohammed Shami is finally back in the Indian team after 14 months as the BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against England. India are scheduled to play five T20I and three ODIs against England at home starting on January 22. Before that, the management has finally announced Shami’s much awaited return to the Indian squad. The first T20I will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on January 22.
Mohammed Shami was last seen playing for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. After that, the fast bowler suffered a knee injury and was out of professional cricket for almost a year. However, Shami was recently seen making his return in India’s domestic and has also shown great form with both bat and ball. Now, with the Champions Trophy around the corner, Shami’s return in the squad could turn out to be a great news for the Indian fans
Suryakumar Yadav to lead India in T20Is, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakrvarthy also included
Suryakumar Yadav will continue to play for the Indian team in the shortest format of the game. Apart from that, spin bowler Varun Chakravarthy and wicket keeper Dhurv Jurel have also made it in the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming series against England. Apart from that, fast bowler Harshit Rana who made his Test debut in the recently ended Border-Gavaskar trophy down under, is also likely to get a game in the upcoming white-ball series.
All-rounder Washington Sundar, who missed the T20I series against South Africa is also back in the squad for the shortest format. BCCI are also likely to release the ODI squad against England soon.
