On Tuesday, March 5, Chennai Super Kings took to their official Instagram to reveal that their captain MS Dhoni has joined the side ahead of the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 42-year-old led CSK to their fifth IPL title last year and will be looking to replicate the feat in the upcoming season.
MS Dhoni was recently spotted attending the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in the city of Gujarat in Jamnagar before he made his way to Chennai to play in the IPL this year. The latest post from Chennai Super Kings on their official Instagram, announcing the arrival of MS Dhoni, had him pictured alongside the franchise mascot “Leo,” with the caption reading, “ThalaiVanakkam! #Den Coming”.
Just a day prior, MS Dhoni posted on social media after quite some time, speaking about how a “new role” awaits him in the “new season,” with his Facebook post reading, “Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’. Stay tuned!”. It sparked a lot of rumours about what new role MS Dhoni is talking about regarding his game in the IPL 2024 season, and some fans speculated if it is a new ad involving the CSK captain.
Chennai Super Kings will be playing the IPL 2024 opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22. Just four days later, they will be taking on the Gujarat Titans in the repeat of the last year’s IPL final at home before travelling away to compete in back-to-back matches.
