Legendary India cricketer MS Dhoni must have called it quits from international cricket, but continues to ply his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). As his presence is only limited for a specific window, during the cash-rich league, he is often seen trying his hands on something or the other at his extravagant farmhouse in Ranchi.
With rumours around MS Dhoni joining politics going rife over a long period now, the former India cricketer hasn’t so far entered the relm of politics, which does comes as a surprise for several. Although, it could be due to his presence in the IPL at this stage, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice-President Rajeev Shukla was recently asked about the same in his recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia.
Dhoni can become a good politician: Rajeev Shukla
Speaking to BeerBiceps on YouTube, the BCCI Vice President recently predicted that Dhoni “can become a good politician”. Shukla also revealed that he had a conversation in regards to the same with the former cricketer on getting into politics, but the latter had completely denied his interest.
“I feel Dhoni can become a politician,” Rajeev Shukla began. “It is up to him, if he will become a politician or not. Sourav, I always felt he would enter Bengal politics. Dhoni can also be good in politics. He will win easily, he is popular. But I don't know if he will enter politics, it is purely in his hands,” he added.
The Indian politician also revealed an interesting conversation he had with Dhoni, when the former India international was rumoured to contest elections. “I asked him once that I heard that he was going to contest for Lok Sabha seat, and he said ‘No, no, no’,” the BCCI board member revealed.
Notably, the 43-year-old will return to action in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, set to get underway from March 21. Dhoni was retained by the Yellow Army ahead of the mega auction for a sum of INR 4 Crore, along with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube and Matheesha Pathirana.
