After reports surfaced around the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 being conducted across two venues in Lucknow and Baroda, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President, Rajeev Shukla on Sunday, January 12 dropped a fresh update on the T20 tournament, along with sharing key updates around the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

In the latest development, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla confirmed that the third edition of WPL to be hosted across four cities. This development comes after the BCCI had reportedly shortlisted Lucknow and Baroda as the potential venues for the tournament.

WPL 2025 to be played across four cities; likely to start from February 6 or 7

During the General Council meeting, which took place on Sunday, January 12, it was decided that the tournament will be hosted across four venues in Mumbai, Baroda, Lucknow and Bengaluru. Speaking with the media agencies on Sunday, the BCCI Vice President also confirmed that the Mumbai leg will be played at Brabourne Stadium.

“It will be played across four venues. The Mumbai leg will be played at Brabourne Stadium,” BCCI Vice President said. Furthermore, a source close to BCCI told TOI, “WPL 3 is likely to be held at four venues - Mumbai, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Vadodara - each of which will stage the tournament in four phases. The event is likely to kick off at Mumbai, with the brand new Kotambi Stadium in vadodara set to stage the final.”

The first season of WPL was entirely hosted in two stadiums - DY Patil Stadium and the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, while Bengaluru and Delhi staged the second edition. Royal Challenger Bengaluru Women will enter the tournament as the defending champions.
