Mumbai City FC were initially scheduled to host Brazilian superstar Neymar Junior's Al-Hilal at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune as Mumbai's home stadium was declared ineligible to host AFC Champions League matches due to their infrastructure setup. However, the ISL giants will now host the Saudi Arabian giants at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai for their AFC Champions League group-stage clash.
After losing their first game against Iranian club Nassaji Mazandaran, Mumbai City are placed at the bottom in Group D of the Asian Champions League while Al-Hilal played a 1-1 draw against Uzbekistan club Navbahor Namangan to clinch the second spot in the standings.
