An FIR has been issued against a woman’s coach at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) by the parents of a minor student, who is a national level boxer for allegedly sexually harassing her during their boxing training. The victim has fallen into depression ever since this incident has happened, and she has not recovered from the trauma caused by it yet. The FIR by the parents states that the coach reportedly tried to forcibly remove her clothes, slapped her multiple times, and threatened her by saying that she would destroy her career and portrayed her as a bad person in front of her fellow boxers.
The parents want justice for their daughter who has had to go through such a bad phase in her boxing career which has destroyed her confidence completely and left her in void. When asked about the FIR, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and SAI stated that they had received a complaint from the victim about the slapping incident, but have denied any claims of sexual harassment as stated in the FIR apart from mentioning that they have failed to collect any evidences of the complaint through their internal investigation.
SAI ensures their commitment towards this case and towards clean sports
SAI have informed the parents that “a complaint was however lodged by a female boxer of NBA Rohtak through email, on 24/4/25 in which she alleged mental and physical harassment by a female coach during an invitational boxing tournament held in Ireland from 25th March 2025 to 3rd April 2025. No allegation of sexual harassment was levelled in that complaint” as stated in response to a PTI enquiry with their regional centre in Sonepat. The victims parents have also expressed their feelings on the BFI’s actions on the matter saying that they are not at all satisfied with the way things are going on at the moment.
The parents came to know about their child’s grief from one of the fellow boxers in the camp. As soon as the parents learnt about it, they immediately rushed to check-up on their daughter in the camp where she completely broke down into tears. She expressed to them what she had been through in the camp and the actions by the woman’s coach.
