After having breached the 90m mark last week at the Doha Diamond League, India’s ace javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra couldn’t continue the momentum at the recently held Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025 event held in Chorzow, Poland. The two-time Olympic medallist once again finished second on Friday, May 23, registering his best throw of 84.14m, which came in his final attempt.

Neeraj Chopra, finished only behind Germany’s Julian Weber, who topped with his best attempt of 86.12m, meanwhile Anderson Peters of Grenada completed the podium, finishing third with a throw of 83.24m. Elaborating on the event, Chopra started with a foul attempt and then followed it up with a 81.28m throw in his second attempt. The 27-year-old then went onto register a couple of fouls, before throwing a legal 81.80m.

After being put to the third position, in fifth round, Neeraj Chopra managed to get to 81.14m to pip Anderson Peters and finish in second place after Julian Weber. With this, Neeraj Chopra extended his run of finishing in the top two to 22 across various competitions.

Neeraj Chopra registers his personal best with 90.23m throw at Doha Diamond League 2025

It is to be noted that the ace Indian athlete entered the competition after breaching the 90m mark at the Doha Diamond League on Friday, May 16. The two-time Olympic medallist breached the 90m mark for the first-time in his illustrious career, along with becoming the 25 th man to do so in the sport’s history. Despite his personal best, Chopra finished in second place with Germany’s Julian Weber securing the top of the podium with a 91.06m throw.
