The Netherlands registered an thrilling win over Nepal in the second game of the Scotland T20 Tri-Series played in Glasgow. The match will go down in the history books as this was the first time that three super overs took place in the history of cricket. Batting first after losing the toss, the Dutch side posted a total of 152/7 in their 20 overs. Teja Nidamanuru’s impactful 35 off 37, accompanied by Saqib Zulfiqar’s unbeaten 25 off 12, helped Scott Edwards’ team to put up a decent score on the board. For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane looked effective and grabbed 3/18 figures in his four overs. Nandan Yadav also took 2/18 figures in his 2.5-over spell. Lalit Rajbanshi and Kushal Bhurtel bagged one wicket apiece.

Chasing the winning target, Nepal lost Lokesh Bam and Anil Sah early but Kushal Bhurtel along with Rohit Paudel stitched a swift 43-run stand off just 19 balls to bring Nepal back into the game. After Bhurtel’s departure, Nepal lost wickets in regular intervals but it was Nandan Yadav’s batting effort that helped them level the score with his 12 runs off just four deliveries. On the final delivery, when Nepal required five to win off the last ball, Nandan smashed a four against Kyle Klein to level the scores.

Nepal gave Netherlands target of just one run in third Super Over

In the first Super Over, Nepal delivered a target of 20 runs to the Dutch team. Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd stepped up and produced three boundaries together to equal the scores of both sides. In the second Super Over, when the Dutch team accumulated 17 runs on the board, Nepal displayed fighting spirit and levelled the score.

In the third Super Over, the Dutch team didn’t let Nepal score any runs and also clinched a couple of wickets in just four balls. Chasing just one run, Levitt smashed a maximum and finished the game in style. Zach Lion-Cachet became the Player of the Match (POTM) for his 1/22 figures in his four-over spell.
