On Tuesday, March 11, New Zealand Cricket announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, which is set to commence from Sunday, March 16 in Christchurch. The runners-up of the recently-concluded ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, New Zealand will take on Pakistan in a white-ball series, including five T20Is and three ODIs.

The Black Caps have named a depleted side for the five-match T20I series, which is scheduled to start from March 16. Michael Bracewell will be seen leading the side in absence of Mitchell Santner, who will be in India for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting from March 22.

Michael Bracewell to lead depleted New Zealand side vs Pakistan in T20Is

Bracewell, who previously led the Kiwis during their tour of Pakistan, saw them draw the series by 2-2 margin. Moreover, the side is set to miss the services of several key players, including Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra, all of whom will be playing their trade in IPL.

The selectors have also kept in mind the workload with Kylie Jamieson and Will O’Rourke only available for the first three games. Moreover, Matt Henry, who missed the final match of the Champions Trophy due to strain, will return for the fourth and fifth T20Is. Speaking after being named the captain of the side, Bracewell said, as quoted by New Zealand Cricket, “It’s a great honour and a real privilege to captain your country. I really enjoyed leading the side in Pakistan last year, and we’ve got many players from that squad included for this series as well, which is nice.”
