The White Ferns, who defeated India in their Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 opener in Dubai on Friday, October 4, will reportedly be touring India for a three-match ODI series. According to reports quoting Cricbuzz, this series will be played soon after the conclusion of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is underway in the UAE from October 3 to 20.
The two teams will lock horns in three ODIs, set to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While the first match will be played on October 24, followed by a match each on October 27 and 29 in Ahmedabad. Moreover, the series will be part of the ICC Women’s ODI Championship 2022-25.
New Zealand to tour India for three ODIs in October 2024
The bilateral series was initially planned for last year, but the series had to be pushed back due to the Indian team’s packed winter, which included series against England and Australia. With the championship points on line, both teams are expected to play with their full strength squad, meaning that the A-listers might miss the initial matches for their respective teams in WBBL 2024.
Speaking of the ICC Women’s ODI Championship 2022-25, New Zealand are in sixth place in the 10-team standings, having won only eight of their 18 ODIs so far, whereas, India, have earned qualification for the 2025 ODI World Cup by the virtue of being the hosts of the tournament. Apart from India, the top five teams from the standings will feature in the tournament, set to be played in October - November 2025.
