Star Indian batter and former captain Virat Kohli has been amid controversy prior to the start of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test. While he was seen getting into an argument with a female reporter after landing in Melbourne, he again hogged the limlight for his shoulder bump act, involving Australia debutant Sam Konstas.
While the incident unfolded on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test, he has been called out for his act with the MCG crowd also responding with boos. After the incident on Day 1, Virat Kohli was heckled by one of the spectators at the MCG after his cheap dismissal on Friday, December 27. After falling at the score of 36 off 86 deliveries, Kohli during his lonely walk back to to the dressing room, was seen being called out by a spectator.
No official complaint from India: Stuart Fox confirms
As the Melbourne crowd turned hostile towards one of the best batters with some fans passing comments, that left Kohli visibly furious. However, the 36-year-old returned to give a stern look at the spectators, Melbourne Cricket Club CEO Stuart Fox recently confirmed that the Indian cricket team hasn’t filed any official complaint in regards to the same.
Talking on SEN radio, Stuart Fox informed, "You're never comfortable when you've got fans heavily engaging with the player. As the operator, you are just always watching. I went and looked at the vision last night. I have been talking to security this morning. There has been no official complaint from India; they are comfortable.”
"I think a bit of heckling happened late and Kohli obviously popped his head back. I'll be concerned if it was really abusive and (there is) any physical contact or abuse that's pushing the boundary. That's where we are always making sure everyone is well behaved. I love Kohli; I love what he has done for our game. I don't particularly love the booing. I think he should be congratulated on creating the rivalry that he has," he concluded.
