West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard on Tuesday (15 November) announced that he will no more play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he can’t see himself playing for any other franchise than Mumbai Indians. As Pollard was an integral part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise since 2010, wishes from around the corner poured in for the MI legend. From former cricketers to active MI players, everyone wished Pollard a happy retirement.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma also shared a post wishing Pollard the best for his future. “Big man, big impact and always played with heart. A true MI legend @kieron.pollard55,” Rohit captioned a picture of himself with Pollard on Instagram.

The post soon went viral on social media and users started reacting to it, but not for good reasons. Fans started slamming the MI skipper who is also the captain of the Indian cricket team which recently bowed out of the T20 World Cup 2022 after getting thrashed by England in the semifinals. The main reason behind fans' angry reaction was Rohit not posting anything about India’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2022.

While the likes of Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and KL Rahul shared posts on their respective social media handles post the defeat to England in the semifinals, Rohit did not share anything. Nor did he attend the post-match press conference. Coach Rahul Dravid was sent to address the reporters after the defeat.

Talking about the same, fans termed Rohit’s act ‘shameful’. A few also claimed that the cricketer is more committed towards his IPL franchise than the national team.
