In the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season between Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday, May 22, at the Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad, LSG secured a 33-run victory over table toppers GT in a brilliant all-round performance from both the batting and bowling unit. The loss puts GT’s top two finish in the points table in jeopardy as they now have only one game remaining before the playoffs stage.
In the first innings, LSG delivered a commanding batting performance, amassing a formidable total of 235/2 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Mitchell Marsh, who scored a scintillating 117 off 64 balls, marking his maiden IPL century. Marsh's innings was characterized by aggressive stroke play, including 10 fours and eight sixes, and a particularly explosive over against Rashid Khan, where he accumulated 25 runs. Supporting Marsh was Nicholas Pooran, who contributed an unbeaten 56 off 27 deliveries.

In response, GT managed to score 202/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a strong start, GT's top order faltered, with key wickets falling at regular intervals. Shahrukh Khan's quickfire 57 off 29 balls and Sherfane Rutherford's 38 off 22 balls provided some resistance, but the target proved too steep. LSG's bowlers, led by Will O'Rourke who took three wickets, maintained pressure throughout the innings.
