Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic will wear specially designed shoes in the US Open 2023. The 23-time Grand Slam winner will start his campaign in the tournament against former US champion Daniil Medvedev on August 29, Tuesday. Coming on the back of two Grand Slam wins this year, Djokovic returned to the USA earlier this month to compete at the Cincinnati Open 2023.
Earlier this month, Djokovic's outfit for the tournament was revealed, where the sky blue colour is vividly present in both his shoes and shirt. Not only this, but Djokovic also got ‘23’ added to his shoes. The number represents the record-breaking Grand Slam titles he has won over the years.
Tennis journalist Tim Newcomb took to Twitter to inform about the same. Posting a picture of Djokovic’s shoes, Tim wrote, “Novak Djokovic will take to the #USOpen courts with a '23' on his Asics Court FF3 Novak shoes representing the number of his major victories.”
In the earlier edition, Djokovic wasn’t allowed to enter into the tournament due to Covid-19 vaccination rules. Later, the rules were modified and the Serbian was allowed to enter the tournament, where he went on to win the title in Cincinnati.
