On Saturday, May 24, one of the greats of the game of tennis, Novak Djokovic etched history as he claimed his 100th career singles title, beating Hubert Hurkacz 5-7, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) in a thrilling game at the Geneva Open 2025. Coming into the tournament after series of first round exits, the Serbian finally ended his wait of almost 10 months to get his 100th ATP title.

The 38-year-old defeated Hukacz in a match that lasted for over three hours. With a historic feat, the Olympic gold medallist joined the elite list featuring just three players to have won 100 ATP titles, trailing Jimmy Connors (109), and Roger Federer (103). Moreover, the win was crucial for the Serb, who claimed his first title since clinching the ATP Finals in November 2023, followed by a gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner, defeated Hukacz, who came into the match not having dropped a set in Geneva prior to the final. Although, during the intense match, Djokovic needed required tiebreaks in both of the final sets to pull off a win, but he only managed to break one serve from the Polish international and then made it count in the final set to push to a tiebreak, winning it 7-2 to his claim his 100th career singles title.

Prior to this, the Serbian had a tough fight against Cameron Norrie on Friday (May 23). While he won the tightly contested first set, Norrie bounced back in the second set to claim it 7-6 (8-6). As a result, the game was forced into the third set and Djokovic didn’t leave a stone unturned and claimed a dominant win by 6-1 margin.

While Djokovic’s 100th singles title came nearly 19 years after first in July 2006, which was also on clay at the Amersfoot in the Netherlands. With a much-needed victory to his name, Djokovic will enter the 2025 French Open as the number six seeded as he eyes his 25 th Grand Slam.
