Nuno Mendes, the Portuguese left-back, has reportedly signed a new five-year deal with French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and the announcement about the deal is expected to be made in the coming days. After verbally agreeing a deal with PSG last December, Nuno Mendes put pen to paper recently, which will make him one of the top earners at the club with an improved salary package as a 22-year-old, and he will be looking forward to becoming one of the top footballers in the world in the near future.

Notably, during the recently concluded January transfer window, Nuno Mendes was linked to a few clubs, with Manchester United’s name being prominently featured in the news. English club manager Ruben Amorim had reportedly identified the left-back as a great option to implement his philosophy at Old Trafford, which hasn’t yielded him consistent results in his first three months.

Nuno Mendes received unconditional support from PSG after being racially targeted

But, after Nuno Mendes decided to stay put at PSG, the Red Devils had no other option, and they had to look for other players in the left-back position. As per one of the latest posts on his official X account, Fabrizio Romano, the Italian journalist, Nuno Mendis has signed a new five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain with an improved salary and a long-term ambition to stay at the club, while the announcement is due shortly.

Moreover, Nuno Mendes, who hasn’t had the best of times while playing for PSG in Ligue 1 this season, was targeted with abusive and racist comments on social media last year. Following that, Paris Saint-Germain released a statement in support of the Portuguese footballer, which read, “Paris Saint-Germain doesn't tolerate racism, antisemitism or any other form of discrimination. The racial insults directed at Nuno Mendes are totally unacceptable.”
