The seventh fixture of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will have the reigning champions England taking on Bangladesh in a high-voltage match on October 10, Tuesday. The match is slated to be hosted at one of the most scenic cricketing venues in India, the HPCA Stadium. While the 2019 World Cup winners opened their tournament on a defeating note against New Zealand, Bangladesh registered a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka in their campaign opener.
Both the teams have faced each other 24 times in the 50-over format. However, if we consider their respective fixtures in the ongoing season of the ICC event, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan was lucky enough to win the toss battle against his rival skipper. England captain Jos Buttler, on the other side, lost the toss in the first match. Considering this, we think Buttler will be the lucky skipper in the first match of the Tuesday's double header.
As mentioned, England and Bangladesh have locked horns 24 times in the ODI format as of now. Out of those 24 occasions England emerged victorious 19 times, whereas their rivals were on the winning side in 5 matches. In their last ODI series played in March 2023, England clinched the series 2-1 against the Bengal Tigers. All these stats speak for themselves and the dominance of the English cricket team over their rivals.
Considering this, we think Jos Buttler will emerge victorious in the forthcoming match and make their tally read 1-1.
Predicted Powerplay Score and Average First Inning Score
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala has been designated to host a total of five matches in the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup. If we have a look at the overall record of the venue, the HPCA stadium has hosted a total of six 50-over matches with the average first inning score of 214.5 and powerplay score of 39.
Considering this, we think the first inning score in the ENG vs BAN encounter would be between 210-220, while the powerplay score is expected to range between 30-35.
