Pitch Report:

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has been termed a batting paradise in T20 cricket after the recent IPL season. But in ODI cricket, the ground hasn’t regularly produced massive totals with the average score being 242. The wickets in Ahmedabad tend to be slower in nature but as the game plays through the batters can eventually get set and then score a lot of runs.

Team Analysis:

England

The defending champions, England have ruled white-ball cricket, especially after winning T20 World Cup in Australia. The baz-ball approach has undoubtedly revolutionised the 50-over game. The English batting lineup is arguably the best with the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali in top form. The only shortcoming which could hinder the Three Lions’ chances would be the bowling with a weaker spin attack.

New Zealand

On the other hand, the New Zealand team hasn’t been at their best with a continued absence of players due to injuries. The Blackcaps will further miss stars like Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, who could miss several games in the tournament. But despite these concerns, the Kiwis have turned up with a squad of quality players, who have a lot of experience in Indian conditions. Despite having a great batting lineup, the Kiwi bowlers could be under the pump, especially the spinners.
