The Men in Blue continued their dominance in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 as they comfortably reclaimed the top spot having won their fifth game in the tournament on the trot. The Rohit Sharma-led side beat New Zealand convincingly by four wickets, with their last World Cup win over the Kiwis coming 20 years ago in 2003.

While there were moments to cherish from the field, there were some moments which gave goosebumps, one of them definitely being the national anthem just ahead of the game. But apart from this, fans inside the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala were also witness of when the lights went off an the in-stadia fans echoed the stadium with ‘Vande Mataram’.  The video of the exquisite light show with fans signing Vande Mataram in unison has been doing rounds on social media.

Talking of the match between the table toppers, Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the Kiwis to bat first. New Zealand posted 273 in their 50 overs with Daryl Mitchell scoring a century and Rachin Ravindra playing a crucial knock of 87-ball 75. Meanwhile it was Mohammed Shami, who starred among the Indian bowlers, registering a fifer in his maiden appearance at the CWC 2023, while Kuldeep Yadav clinched two and Bumrah and Siraj taking one each.

On the other hand, the Indian openers gave a good start before both were dismissed by Lockie Ferguson. But Virat Kohli looked firm in the middle, playing an important inning of 104-ball 95 to help the side reach the target with four wickets in hand along with Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 39.
