Olivia Smith is a Canadian women's international footballer who used to play for Liverpool FC in the Women’s Super League in the previous campaign. The 20-year-old plays as an attacking forward. In the year 2024, she joined Liverpool from Sporting CP on a three-year-deal for a reported transfer fee of £200,000. She created history by scoring two goals against Manchester United which saw Liverpool's first victory at Anfield in women's football. The Canadian International played 20 matches for Liverpool in which she managed to score seven goals for the Reds.
However, Arsenal Women’s Football club have announced today that they have completed the signing of Olivia Smith from Liverpool. The Canadian international became the most expensive signing in women's football history after she completed a £1 million move to the Gunners. The 20-year-old has signed a four-year contract at the Emirates. Smith broke the previous record of defender Naomi Girma, who signed for Chelsea from San Diego Wave FC for £900,000. Chelsea and Lyon were also interested in signing the attacker, however their bids were rejected by Liverpool as their bid was not matching their evaluation for Olivia Smith.
