On June 28, 1991, Belgium’s professional footballer Kevin De Bruyne was born in Drongen. In 2005, at the age of 14, he joined Genk, where he evolved a lot as a player. In January 2012, he became a member of Chelsea after leaving Genk. His contract was for five-and-a-half years with Stamford Bridge, but in July 2012, he joined Werder Bremen in Bundesliga on a season-long loan deal. Serving the German club, he scored 10 goals in 33 outings. Following the successful loan stint with Bremen, he returned to Chelsea in July 2013. His career got a major boost in August 2015 when Manchester City stitched a six-year contract with him.

De Bruyne’s association with City was for 10 years from 2015 to 2025 and during this period, he played 285 matches and scored 72 goals. With Manchester City, he won six Premier League titles, five League trophies, two FA Cups, and their maiden Champions League title in 2023. In City’s 2021/22 title success, De Bruyne made a contribution of 15 goals in 30 matches. In 2025, the veteran parted ways with Citizens. In 2025, he signed a contract with Serie A’s team Napoli.

De Bruyne made his debut for his national side Belgium in 2010 and since then, he has played 111 games in which he racked up 31 goals. His notable performance for Belgium came in the 2024 Euros, when he scored a goal against Romania in the 80th minute and helped his side win convincingly by a 2-0 margin.

Before making his international debut, he also played for Belgium’s Under-18, 19, and 21 sides. His supporters will want him to achieve success in the upcoming years. His new club Napoli will also look to reach new heights after signing him this year.
