Former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth is celebrating his 42nd birthday on February 6, 2025. He was a player of great potential but his career was ruined when he got a lifetime ban after getting allegedly involved in match fixing in IPL in 2013. Sreesanth was a crucial member of the Indian team that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.
S Sreesanth has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20I for the Indian team taking 169 wickets in all three formats combined. He has also played for franchises like Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab), Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Rajasthan Royals in his IPL career 40 scalps in 44 matches in the cash-rich league.
S Sreesanth Career

S Sreesanth initially started as a leg spinner in his childhood with his action getting inspired from legendary spinner Anil Kumble. However, he later converted his action into fast bowling due to his habit of bowling yorkers. He went on to made his first-class debut for Goa during the 2002-03 Ranji Trophy and went on to take 22 wickets in seven matches in that season. After that, he went on represent South Zone in the Duleep Trophy that year. He went on make his debut for the Indian team in an ODI match against Sri Lanka in Nagpur on October 25, 2005.
A few months after his ODI debut, S Sreeesanth went on to make his Test debut against England in Nagpur on March 1, 2006, followed by his T20I vs South Africa in Johannesburg on December 1, 2006. His career was filled with some of the precious memories including the T20 World Cup win in 2007 and ODI World Cup win in 2011.
However, Sreesanth received a major setback when his name came along with other two players from Rajasthan Royals (Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan) for the fulfilling of promises made to bookmakers in the IPL in September 2013. The BCCI found him guilty for spot-fixing put a lifetime ban on him from playing cricket.
