Star all-rounder Shane Watson shone with both bat and ball as Rajasthan Royals registered a dominant 10-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 20, 2011. The right-arm bowler first took three wickets with ball as RR restricted MI to 133/5. After that, the opening batter scored an unbeaten 89* runs as RR chased the target without losing any wicket in 13.1 overs.
Coming to bat first after winning the toss, MI got to a poor start as they lost two wickets from 17 runs after four overs. After that, skipper Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma added 48 runs for the third wicket. Sachin got out after a steady knock of 31 runs off 35 balls, hitting three boundaries. After that, Rohit put up a partnership of 53 runs for the fourth wicket with Kieron Pollard.
RR registered dominant win over MI in 2011
Rohit Sharma was top scorer for MI with 58 runs off 47 balls, hitting five fours and a six. Apart from that, Kieron Pollard contributed with 20(18) runs while James Franklin gave finishing touches with 11*(5) runs as MI crossed the 130-run mark. For RR, Shane Watson registered figures of 3/19 in his four overs, while skipper Shane Warne and Amit Singh scalped a wicket.
Chasing the winning target, Shane Watson took charge of the innings along with Rahul Dravid as the opening duo didn’t let a single wicket fall in a run chase. RR chased the target with 41 balls remaining and 10 wickets. Watson was top scorer with 89* runs off 47 balls, hitting nine fours and six sixes, while Dravid remained unbeaten on 43* runs off 32 balls, hitting six boundaries.
