Sunrisers Hyderabad shattered several records with their batting in IPL 2024. First, they broke the record for the highest IPL total two times, apart from that, SRH achieved the records for the highest powerplay score in IPL in a match against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 20. Openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma together scored 125 runs in just six overs as SRH set the momentum for another huge total in IPL 2024.
Coming to bat first after losing the toss, SRH got a fiery start as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head put up a partnership of 131 runs in just 6.2 overs. Abhishek smashed 46 runs off just 12 balls, hitting two fours and six sixes, while Head turned out to be a top scorer with 89(32) runs, smashing 11 fours and six sixes. From the middle-order, Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed with 37(27) runs, hitting two fours and two sixes. After that, Shahbaz Ahmed gave finishing touches with 59*(29) runs with two fours and five sixes as SRH posted a mammoth 266/7 in their 20 overs. For DC, Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets, while Mukesh Yadav and Axar Patel scalped a wicket each.
SRH registered big win over DC in IPL 2024
Chasing the winning target, DC lost both their openers on 25 runs after two overs. After that, Jake Fraser McGurk and Abishek Porel put up a partnership of 84 runs for the third wicket. McGurk scored a fiery 65 runs off 18 balls, hitting five fours and seven sixes, while Porel scored 42 off 22 with seven fours and a six.
Skipper Rishabh Pant also contributed with 44 runs off 35 balls, hitting five fours and a six. Apart from that, none of the batters could play a big knock as DC were bowled out for 199 runs in 19.1 overs with SRH winning the game a margin of 67 runs. For SRH, T Natarajan scalped four wickets, Mayank Markhande and Nitish Kumar Reddy took two wickets each while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Washington Sundar scalped a wicket each.
