Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan captain, lashed out at the Men in Green led by Babar Azam after they lost to their arch-rivals India by six runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 Group A clash in New York. The 58-year-old spoke about how Pakistan doesn’t need an enemy, since they have it in their cricketing system itself before wanting the captain and coach to explain their recent loss.

At the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, won the toss and decided to field up in helpful conditions. The bowlers for the Men in Green picked up early wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but it led to Rishabh Pant stitching together a decent partnership with Axar Patel to resurrect the Indian batting innings.

Following the demise of Rishabh Pant for 42 off 31, the Indian batting lineup collapsed in a heap, getting bundled out for 119 in 19 overs after Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf picked up three wickets each.

In the run chase, Pakistan batted conservatively in the early part of the innings, but they were in control for most of it. After Mohammad Rizwan lost his stumps for 31 off 43, the Indian bowlers performed at their absolute best, with Jasprit Bumrah taking three wickets in total, to restrict the batting innings of the Men in Green at 113/7.

During the post-match show with Star Sports, Wasim Akram wasn’t happy with the performance of the Pakistan cricket team against India and said, as per Times of India, “Pakistan ko dushman ki zarurat nahi hai, ye khudi bahut hain. Ab inke muh mein chusni daalenge kya hum. Ab inko batayenge situation awareness kya hai? Babar batayega, coach batayega. (Pakistan doesn't need an enemy, they have plenty themselves. Now should we put a pacifier in their mouths? Now we have to explain to them what situation awareness is. Babar will explain, the coach will explain).”
