Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Afridi tied the knot with former Pakistan pacer Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha, on Friday, at a local mosque in Karachi. According to reports, a reception was held for the couple at the DHA Golf and Country Club after their Nikkah and attended by a lot of Shaheen’s teammates from the national cricket team.

The wedding ceremony of Pakistan’s most loved cricketer was studded with some prominent names like skipper Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah. Actor Adnan Siddiqui along with former squash champion Jehangir Khan was also among the attendees. According to reports, the couple’s mehendi ceremony was held on Thursday evening while Shaheen Afridi’s family had reached Karachi city two days earlier for the marriage.

Notably, Shaheen Afridi and Ansha got engaged two years ago. The star pacer had once jokingly revealed that marrying Shahid Afridi’s daughter was his desire. By profession, Ansha is an aspiring physician and was pursuing her education in the UK.

Afridi, who has been in and out of cricket recently due to injuries, made his Pakistan debut in 2018 and emerged as a breakout star. He has been frightening batters from across the world with his pace since then. After undergoing surgery and rehabilitation for months, the speedster is all set to return to the field in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In a recent interview, Shaheen shed some light on his days of rehabilitation, where he was about to quit cricket, but he kept himself motivated by watching his own old video. “There were times when I wanted to give up. I was working on only one muscle, and it was not improving. Often during the rehabilitation sessions, I used to say to myself ‘this is enough, I cannot do this anymore. It is frustrating for a fast bowler to miss cricket because of an injury,” said Shaheen on YouTube.
