India are set to face their arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening game at the SAFF Championship 2023 on Wednesday, June 21. There was doubt over the date of the clash as the Pakistan team faced some visa issues in Mauritius and a senior official had said that the schedule could see some changes. However, as per the latest update, the Pakistan national team has been cleared of visas and will land in India on Monday, June 19.

The Pakistan Football Federation received a NOC from the Ministry of IPC on Friday to take part in the next SAFF Championship 2023 in India. The Pakistan delegation was scheduled to depart from Mauritius where they were playing a four-nation tournament and were set to arrive in India on June 18. But, the team missed the flight because of visa issues.

The Pakistan coach Shahzad Anwar mentioned that their planning and preparation will be affected because of this delay. AIFF General Secretary Shaji Prabhakaran also opened up regarding the visa issue and later said, “Tomorrow it will be done.”

Pakistan was a part of the four-nation tournament with Kenya, Djibouti, and Mauritius where they lost all their three matches. On the other hand, India are coming off a brilliant Intercontinental Cup 2023. India will face Pakistan on Wednesday, June 21 in a high-voltage clash and will look to continue their good form.
