Notably, in the mixed skeet event, each shooter gets 24 attempts to accumulate maximum points for their team, to win the contest in the medal round. During the qualification round, Anant Jeet Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan scored 72/75 and 74/75 respectively, to finish in fourth place with a combined score of 146/150, making the bronze medal match.

In the bronze medal match, Anant Jeet Naruka scored 22/24, but Maheshwari Chauhan could only manage to get 21/24, which proved to be the ultimate difference against the Chinese. Their opponents Jialin Yiu scored a perfect 24/24, while his female partner Yiting Jiang contributed with 20/24, to become medallists at the Paris 2024.

This was the third occasion in shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024 where the Indian shooters came in fourth place in their respective events. Manu Bhaker and Arjun Babuta missed out on medals in the women’s 25m air pistol and the men’s 10m air rifle events respectively.

But, at the same time, all three bronze medals for India at the ongoing Olympic Games have come in shooting.
