Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal have received praise from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 runners-up spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi. Prior to the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens, Joshi attended a press conference and also lauded Yuzvendra Chahal’s performance. In the previous encounter between both teams, Chahal bagged a four-wicket haul and steered Punjab to a 15-run win.

“I think Yuzi is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. Big-match players don't need to be reminded of what they are capable of. They can always make a difference. It's just the confidence and bowling in the right areas that help them perform strongly,” said Sunil Joshi.

Sunil Joshi was also asked about Shreyas Iyer, who has looked exceptional as PBKS captain so far in the tournament. “If you look back at Shreyas' contribution in the last 8-10 months, from the Champions Trophy onwards, playing not only against fast bowling but also against spin has become more consistent. He has shown hunger and is ready to accept every challenge he comes across,” said Joshi.

Defending champions KKR will look to bounce back

Reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have failed to play as per expectations. Their batting unit has performed miserably this season. The three-time IPL champions are currently placed in the seventh spot with three wins and five defeats. On their home ground, they have played four games this year, in which they won only one.

In their last encounter against PBKS in Mohali on April 15, they got bundled out on 96 while chasing a score of 112. However, forgetting their previous failures, they will now look to be impactful while hosting against Shreyas Iyer and his men in Kolkata.
