Despite being in a commanding position for majority of the time in the game, Punjab Kings ended up choking at the end badly by a margin of just 2 runs against Rajasthan Royals. Kartik Tyagi delivered a brilliant final over of the match to defend 4 runs and embarrass RR who had 8 wickets in hand going into the over but they managed to score only 1 run off it. Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul's another terrific partnership went in vain for the Punjab side.

Initially, RR were invited to bat by PBKS and they posted a competitive total of 185 runs with handy knocks from Evin Lewis, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mahipal Lomror. However, Arshdeep Singh's 5-wicket haul towards the end helped PBKS restrict RR for a comparatively lesser total as they looked to smash more than 200 in the first innings. Chasing the target, PBKS were at a very comfortable position of 120/0 in the 12th over, courtesy KL Rahul & Mayank Agarwal. However, the latter part of the game saw a pathetic performance from the PBKS batsmen, especially towards the end of the innings.
