However, it was Jaiswal, who was nearing his double century and veteran all-rounder R Ashwin, who held the guards at the end of the day. But just when the Day 1 came to a close, R Ashwin was seen having an animated chat with on-field umpire Marais Erasmus. However, the details of the conversation are not known, apparently it seemed that the Zimbabwean umpire was reminding Ashwin, who was trying to have extended chat with Jaiswal.

Rajat Patidar responds on Ashwin’s conversation with umpire
With Shoaib Bashir making his debut for England, it was Rajat Patidar who made his much-awaited debut for the hosts. However, the RCB batter’s stay was cut short by Rehan Ahmed with the young batter adding only 32 runs on the board. Speaking at the post-day media interaction, Patidar was asked about Ashwin’s conversation.
“I don’t know what the conversation was about,” Patidar responded when asked about it.
The Day 2 proceedings started with Yashasvi Jaiswal (171*) and R Ashwin (5) in the middle.
