India Women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a captain’s knock in the third and the final of a three-matcc series against England Women at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street. With the help of her hundred, India Women posted a total of 318 runs for the loss of five wickets as England Women now need 319 runs to win the series by 2-1. Along with Harmanpreet, Jemimah Rodrigues also shone with a half-century, while Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol and Richa Ghosh also gave crucial contributions with the bat.
Coming to bat first after winning the toss, India Women got a great start as Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana put up an opening partnership of 64 runs in 12.1 overs. Rawal got out scoring 26(33) while Mandhana also scored 45 runs off 54 balls. After that, Harleen Deol took charge off the innings along with captain Harmanpreet Kaur as the duo added 81 runs for the third wicket. Harleen got out after scoring 45 runs off 65 balls hitting four boundaries.

After Harleen Deol’s dismissal, Jemimah Rodrigues joined Harmanpreet Kaur at the crease as they both added 110 runs for the fourth wicket. Rodrigues got out after scoring 50(45) runs hitting seven boundaries while Harmanpreet went on to complete her century in just 82 balls. The Indian skipper got out after playing a captain’s knock of 102 runs off 84 balls with 14 boundaries.
After that, Richa Ghosh gave finishing touches with 38*(18) runs with three fours and two sixes as India Women ended up posting 318 runs losing five wickets in their 50 overs. For England, Lauren Bell, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren FIler, Linsey Smith and Charlie Dean scalped a wicket each. Now, the Women in Blue will look to restrict the hosts under 318 runs and win their second consecutive ODI series in England.
