Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar turned out to be a match-winner as Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants for the second time in match number 40 of IPL 2025 at Ekana Cricket Stadium. The right-arm pacer took four big wickets as DC restricted LSG at 159 for six in their 20 overs. In reply, Abishek Porel and KL Rahul scored fifties as DC chased the target in 17.5 overs to win by eight wickets.
Coming to bat first after losing the toss, LSG had a great start as Aidem Markram and Mitchell Marsh added 87 runs for the first wicket in 10 overs. Markran scored 52(33) runs while Marsh got out after scoring 45 off 36 balls. However, after the partnership was broken, the LSG middle-order failed to keep up with the momentum and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Ayush Badoni continued with 36 runs off 21 balls as LSG posted 159/6 in their 20 overs. For LSG, Mukesh Kumar registered figures of 4/33, while Dushmantha Chameera and Mitchell Starc scalped a wicket each.
Abishek Porel and KL Rahul’s fifties guide LSG to convincing win
Chasing the winning target, DC lost their first wickets in the form of Karun Nair (15 off 9) at the score of 36 runs in 3.4 overs. After that, KL Rahul joined Porel at the crease as the duo put up a partnership of 69 runs for the second wicket. Porel got out after scoring 51 runs off 36 balls hitting five fours and a six.
After that, KL Rahul and skipper Axar Patel took the innings further with an unbeaten partnership of 56 runs as DC chased the target within 18 overs. Rahul finished the game with a six and remained unbeaten on 57*(42) runs hitting three fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Axar scored an unbeaten 34 runs off 20 balls with one four and four sixes.
