India captain Rohit Sharma showcased his batting mettle against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final played at the Dubai International Stadium and handed his team a sensational four-wicket win. With this triumph, India bagged their third Champions Trophy title. Batting first after winning the toss, the Kiwi team posted a fine total of 251/7 in their 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell (63 off 101) and Michael Bracewell (unbeaten 53 off 40) stood up with their bats in the summit clash. Following the target, Rohit looked attacking from the first over of the game. Along with his opening partner Shubman Gill, Rohit built a 105-run partnership for the first wicket.

From the one end, Gill displayed composure with his defense while from the other side, Rohit took New Zealand’s bowling attack to the cleaners and produced some exquisite strokes from  his bat. The veteran went on to notch up his 58th ODI fifty off just 41 deliveries. The 37-year-old witnessed the dismissals of Gill and Virat kohli from the other end but went on to add some more runs for his team. Eventually, he lost his wicket to Rachin Ravindra in the 27th over. The star player hit 76 off 83 with seven fours and three maximums.

Rohit records his best knock in the ICC finals

With his batting effort of 76 runs against the Black Caps, Rohit has registered his best innings in ICC finals. Earlier, his 47-run innings against Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad was his best. Rohit has appeared in eight ICC finals in his vast 18-year international career.

In India’s scintillating success, Rohit’s batting will always be remembered. Days ahead of the final clash, he faced criticism for his fitness and failure to deliver effective knocks to the team in the competition. However, he stepped up on the big day and played attacking innings that helped the Men in Blue accumulate quick runs in the initial overs of the innings.
