In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI), the latter’s veteran opener Rohit Sharma again displayed his courageous side and played an excellent 70-run knock off 46 deliveries. Chasing a low target of 144, Mumbai lost Ryan Rickelton in the second over of the innings but Rohit remained unfazed and pounded bowlers ruthlessly. As an impact player, he stitched an effective 64-run stand with Will Jacks for the second wicket. After the England player’s departure, Suryakumar Yadav joined him at the crease and both didn’t show mercy against bowlers.
In the 15th over, the 37-year-old concluded his extraordinary innings. His extraordinary knock was studded with 11 boundaries (eight fours and three maximums). Rohit, who was struggling to be among the runs in the first-half of the marquee tournament, has regained his form. Following Rohit’s dismissal, Suryakumar stood at the crease and took MI home with his unbeaten 40 which came in just 19 balls.
Trent Boult’s scintillating bowling show helped MI restrict SRH to a low total
Earlier, in the first innings, Mumbai bowled exceptionally and contained SRH to a score of 143/8. Trent Boult shone with the ball and grabbed 4/26 figures in his four overs. The veteran pacer got rid of dangerous opener Travis Head in the second over of the match and delivered the maiden breakthrough to the visitors.
After Head, he also picked up Abhishek Sharma, who got back to the dugout after scoring only eight. Assisting the Kiwi speedster, Deepak Chahar also claimed two wickets in the first powerplay. The India pacer got the better of Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The sensational bowling efforts from both pacers helped Mumbai restrict the Orange Army on a minimal score. Boult also received the player of the match (POTM) award for his superb bowling performance.
