Will Jacks scores 58-ball century in Surrey’s 7-run win; scalps two wickets

Coming out to bat alongside Ryan Patel, Will Jacks completed his century off 58 balls, guiding the side to their 11 th victory in 14 Vilatily Blast games. During his 59-ball stay in the middle, Jacks smashed 15 boundaries, 12 fours and three maximums, striking at the rate of 169.49. He also stitched a crucial 65-run stand with Ryan Patel for the opening wicket and then stitched a 97-run partnership with Jason Roy.

Later on as they eyed to defend the total, Sam Curran led from the front, finishing with figures of 4/18 in his three overs, Will Jacks also helped with the ball, picking two crucial wickets, that too of the opening batters, Daniel Hughes (75 off 43) and George Thomas (11 off 12), thus snuffing out Sussex’s hopes of winning the last quarter-final berth from their group.

With a win, Surrey topped the South Group standings with 44 points and a net run rate of +1.249, and will next take on Northamptonshire at the Kia Oval on September 3.
