Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Italian international goalkeeper, plays for the French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 26-year-old joined them from the Italian giants AC Milan on a free transfer in July 2021. Following his amazing performance in the previous campaign, he has also been shortlisted among the 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or 2025. The Italian international has played a vital role in PSG winning the Ligue 1 title four times consecutively, apart from last season's UEFA Champions League. But now, Donnarumma is expected to not be a part of PSG anymore as manager Luis Enrique doesn't have him in his plans for the upcoming season.

This saga began started when PSG announced their squad to face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup and Donnarumma’s name was not included in the squad. After the question arose on the goalkeeper's non-selection, Luis Enrique came out in public to address this issue, stating that they are looking for a different profile of a goalkeeper in the squad apart from revealing that it was very difficult for him to reach this decision. "I am supported by my club and we are trying to find the best solution," he also remarked in the press conference.

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future remains uncertain as he announces his departure from PSG

Gianluigi Donnarumma has now confirmed his departure from PSG through his social media post on X which highlighted that some of the people at the club don't want him to continue with the club.

In his post on X, he expressed his gratitude to the PSG fans, and remarked, “"I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done. If that doesn't happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me and I will never forget it."
