The sudden demise of Queen Elizabeth II has left England in shock and sorrow. Following the passing away of the Queen, the sports fraternity expressed its condolences to the longest-serving monarch in the history of England and some noteworthy competitions were called off and rescheduled in order to pay respect to the Queen.

The Premier League, Champions League One, League Two, Women's Super League season and all non-League and grassroots fixtures were postponed with immediate effect on Thursday. All English and Scottish football games were too postponed this weekend following the Queen's death on Thursday.

The Scottish FA also postponed the SPFL, SWPL, and Highland & Lowland Leagues, while the British Boxing Board of Control rescheduled Saturday's fight between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshal for the undisputed middleweight world championship to October 15. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board has already confirmed that Men's third Test match between England and South Africa will resume at The Oval as three-day Test and the Women's T20I match between England and India will go ahead as per the schedule at the Riverside in Durham.

Apart from Test match, Golf's BMW PGA Championship will resume on Saturday morning following the immediate suspension of play on Thursday evening and complete cancellation of Friday's game. The event will now be 54-hole game intended to finish on Sunday as scheduled. Premier Rugby has confirmed that fixtures on Saturday and Sunday will take place as per the schedule with few minor changes like Friday's game between Bristol Bears and Bath Rugby has now been rescheduled for Saturday at 5.30 PM.

Meanwhile, Friday's other game between Sale Sharks vs Northampton Saints has been changed to 3 PM start on Sunday. The British Horse Racing Authority has confirmed that all British horse racing stands cancelled on Friday and Saturday with an additional day of racing at Doncaster will be scheduled for Sunday to make for the lost races of Friday.

In its statement, English Football League stated that all EFL fixtures from 9-10 September will be rescheduled as a mark of respect by the National Sport to the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
